Hydroseeding is a process that uses a specialised pump to distribute a selected blend of seed, fertilizer, wood fiber mulch, tackifying agents, and water in one application. It can be very effective for hillsides and sloping lawns to help with erosion control and quick planting.

The added mulch fibers help retain water to keep the seed moist, while the tackifyers assist with binding to the soil to greatly reduce wind and soil erosion – both of these factors help give the seed the best opportunity for germination & growth. A green dye is often used in the mix to mark the areas treated.

If planting a relatively large area, hydroseeding can be completed in a very short period of time.

Hydroseeding will typically cost significantly less than planting with instant turf, but more than broadcast seeding. Results are often quick with high germination rates producing grass growth in about a week under favourable conditions, and mowing maintenance beginning around 3 to 4 weeks from the date of application.

The seed mix used can be either our drought tolerant seed mix, native seed mix, or a custom blend specifically matched to your sites specific requirements.

  • Fast & Efficient application for large areas
  • Higher percentage of germination compared to seed broadcast
  • Reduced wind and water erosion
  • Ideal on steep slopes
  • Dust suppression
  • Rapid germination under ideal conditions.
